European issues for computer security incident debated in Luxembourg

Security

Over 130 European CSIRT professionals gathered in Luxembourg at the 57th Task Force on Computer Security Incident Response Teams meeting led by GÉANT Association.

On 23 and 24 May 2019, the RESTENA Fondation and SECURITYMADEIN.LU organized the 57th Task Force on Computer Security Incident Response Teams (TF-CSIRT) meeting within the framework of the GÉANT community. It represents a golden occasion for the RESTENA Foundation to gather in the Belval district, Luxembourg, its counterparts acting as National Research and Education Networks (NREN) all over Europe alongside private Computer Security Incident Response Teams (CSIRTs).

CSIRT services and national implementation

During the two days event, over 130 CSIRT professionals discussed about various topics related to computer security incident, such as attack for internal hunting, the ways to protect email communication among CSIRTs, as well as a presentation on how to make use of the new CSIRT Services Framework for Trusted Introducer (TI).
This last topic is of major interest for research and education community in Luxembourg. Indeed, the RESTENA Foundation operates a CSIRT team - accredited GÉANT TI - specifically dedicated to this community that can therefore benefit of every evolution, update and new development implemented by the RESTENA Foundation.

LU-CIX, as well as Excellium Services, Telindus and GOVCERT, some of other Luxembourg accredited GÉANT TI, all experts in the field of cybersecurity, also joined SECURITYMADEIN.LU and the RESTENA Foundation at the meeting. Thanks to informative exhibition booths, participants were given insights into Luxembourg expertise including the MONARC risk assessment method and platform as well as the Luxembourg Commercial Internet exchange (LU-CIX) platform whose technical operations are mostly managed by the RESTENA Foundation.

Save the date!

Representing the Luxembourg research and education network within the GÉANT Community, the RESTENA Foundation actively participates to the TF-CSIRT meetings. The next one will be organized on 16 and 17 September 2019 in Cyprus. For more information about the 58th TF-CSIRT meeting, visit tf-csirt.org.
