New platform for the registration and management of .lu domain names

As of Tuesday 13 June 2023, the Restena Foundation's .lu online management and registration platform has been modernised. It is now more intuitive, user-friendly and secure.

As the .lu registry and one of more than fifty registrars around the world accredited to commercially offer .lu domain names, the Restena Foundation has upgraded its online .lu domain names registration and management platform.

A renew platform

The renewal of the platform, which was first launched in 2011 and refreshed in 2019, had become essential over the years. In June 2023, Restena, therefore, launched a new version of its my.lu/online platform: adapted to current standards, geared towards a more user-friendly and intuitive user experience, and fully integrated into the registrar's brand image, which was updated in January 2022. In addition to a graphical upgrade, the platform offers several new features.

  • A more secure management environment with the introduction of two-factor authentication for account creation and access.
  • A smoother ordering process, divided into five steps: assigning the owner, assigning contacts, defining technical datas (server and delegation information and, if necessary, DNS records), viewing and verifying data, and selecting the payment method;
  • A personalised dashboard highlighting domain names that require special attention, particularly those that need to be renewed before they expire.

Finally, additional payment options, notably PayPal, will be integrated into the platform from the end of June 2023.

The culmination of a modernisation project

This update is the culmination of a major project to modernise Restena's activities around .lu. The first effects were felt in January 2022 with the update of the visual identity of the department in charge of managing .lu domain names, the redesign of the dns.lu website and the evolution of the my.lu platform into a website dedicated to the activity of an accredited .lu registrar.

To complete this final stage and provide a platform tailored to the needs of online account managers, Restena asked them for feedback at the end of 2022. More than 270 people responded to a survey and five respondents were allowed to discuss their experiences and needs in individual workshops.
