Website hosting: PHP support and Certificate Management
On 24 November 2025, the website hosting platform won’t support the version 8.1 of programming language PHP. At that time,
PHP 8.1 will stop working, and server environments will automatically switch to version 8.3;
PHP 8.2 will keep on working;
PHP 8.3 will become the default version for all future hosted websites.
Restena recommends institutions benefitting from the ‘Hosting – website’ service:
to check the PHP compatibility of their websites;
to migrate those configured with PHP 8.1;
to check their configuration don't refer to obsolete PHP versions from their .htaccess files.
At the same time, in order to maintain a secure connection, protect user data, and preserve user trust, institutions are invited to issue and regularly renew their website(s)’s SSL/TLS certificates. To reduce manual errors and to prevent service interruptions, an automating certificate management is recommended.
Restena’s ‘TCS Certificate Service’ can help institutions to issue and manage their SSL/TLS certificates in a simplified and secure manner regardless of whether institutions have a TCS tenancy.
