NETWORK SERVICES
IPv4
Every connected institution has the right to ask the attribution of an IPv4 pool. The number of attributed addresses is appropriate to the needs.
IPv6
A IPv6 attribution can be granted in complement to the IPv4 address pool.
To ask for an IP addess range, please contact us via mail:
Resolution of domain names
The DNS servers allow correspondence to be established between the domain names and the IP addresses of the machines in a network.
The two DNS servers are:
- 158.64.1.25 / 2001:a18:1::25
- 158.64.1.14 / 2001:a18:1::14
RESTENA Foundation offers a reduced price on their DNS-LU service for the domain name registration in .LU to every connected institution.
Two high-accuracy time server are available to institutions and individual users for synchronising the clocks on their networked computer equipment.
The server chronos.restena.lu is directly linked to a combined GPS/GLONASS receiver so that it can be synchronised with the satellites of the American GPS system and those of the Russian GLONASS system.
Server specifications:
Name: chronos.restena.lu
Protocol: NTP (Network Time Protocol)
(IPv4 and IPv6)
The server time.restena.lu is directly linked to a GPS receiver to be synchronised with the satellites of the GPS system.
Server specifications:
Name: time.restena.lu

PERT stands for Performance Enhancement and Response Team.
The service is being provided to help RESTENA users in troubleshooting their network performance issues. The goal is end-to-end performance optimisation even by crossing various network domains. RESTENA PERT is part of the eduPERT federation.
Contact
If you encounter performance problems involving the RESTENA network you may contact us by e-mail via pert@restena.lu providing detailed information on the problem.
Webtools
A set of webbased tools is publicly available to help you analysing performance bottlenecks:
Your connection towards RESTENA:
- NDT - Network Diagnostic Tool
High-speed bidirectional performance test - RESTENA Detective
Availabilty test of services and network connection
Interdomain connectivity:
- RIPE TTM - RESTENA as it is seen by the Internet
Resources
A comprehensive knowledge base has been set up inside the GN2 PERT activity :
Performance surveillance is based on :
- availability of services and tools throughout RESTENA PERT,
- proactive surveillance of the RESTENA services and infrastructure with internal notifications,
- Network services portal: monitoring with access notifications and particular services to the institutions.
